Architect

Designation          : Architect
Function/Group : Engineering & Research
Experience            : 12-18 yrs
Architect will work with the Senior Architect(s) to detail out some parts of the overall design and flesh out the architectural details for those design elements.  They will work closely with the code designers and the construction leads who will give them an implementation perspective for the proposed design and architecture details.
What will you be doing?
Inception
  • Inception stage activities may require thorough analysis of some areas, especially around the kind of ‘hard problems’ to solve. Early prototypes may need to be established, some POC activities may need to happen
  • The Associate Software Architect will be working under the guidance from the Software Architect to validate (or invalidate) any theories or assumptions about the overall solution approach
Design
  • The overall design of a project will typically involve many elements. The Software Architect will be the owner driving the overall design, break it up into smaller elements in a coherent manner.
  • The Associate Software Architect will own some of these design items in which they have the expertise (or may have to develop) and document them in sufficient level of detail that a) addresses the need and b) is deemed fit for further detailing.
Architecture
  • The Associate Software Architect, for the design items that they own, should detail the architectural breakdown, interactions, modules, interfaces etc., This is a pre-requisite for work breakdown and forms the basis of work assignment for code-design and coding
Experiment, Prototype, Proof of Concept
  • The Design and Architecture of a system may require substantial amount of research to validate certain hypotheses. This would include developing prototypes, establishing proof of concept etc.,
  • The Associate Software Architect will be required to conduct such experiments on basis of which key decisions will be taken. Therefore, they should not only experiment but clearly document the findings in a qualitative manner that can help establish the way forward
 Code Design & Implementation
  • The code design and implementation are construction phase activities. The Associate Software Architect may have to work closely with the code-design lead(s) to answer any questions that may require further architectural detailing, necessitate any changes in the architecture or be a simple matter of clarification
 Collaboration & Communication
  • The scope of an Associate Software Architect being narrower than the Software Architect, they will be expected to work under the guidance of the Software Architect during the design and architectural phases. During the construction phase, they will closely work with the lead code-designer(s)
 Who are we looking for?
An Associate Software Architect must be technically-inclined, a good problem-solver and should have expertise in some ‘durable’ areas of the product technology. They should work well under the Software Architect’s guidance and provide qualitative feedback that flows back to improving the overall design quality of the product.
Technical
  • Ability to work deep in some design areas independently
  • Ability to translate design into detailed architecture
  • Ability to give qualitative feedback on prototypes, POCs
Non-Technical
  • Ability to open out the narrow set(s) of problem to a great level of detail
  • Ability to work under some guidance
